So... much has happened since last I blogged. Let's see if I can keep this short and sweet (rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright...).
A. I am no longer employed at my "Current Place Of Employment", aka "The Water Place". This location will now be referred to as my "Previous Place Of Employment". My new place of employment will now replace my "Previous Place Of Employment" as my "Current Place Of Employment"... so much for keeping this short and sweet, right?? =)
Anyway, I will further discuss my "Current Place Of Employment" in future blog(s), this post will just stick to getting current w/ my goings-on...
B. My sister got married this summer, so now we've gone from having a small family to a large family of 'in-laws'... yay. We took a cruise to Cozumel so they could get married on the beach, and the whole trip has been the highlight of my year. It was really exciting for me to get to really be a part of the whole 'wedding process', and of course it was wonderful getting to watch my sis marry 'the man of her dreams'. There will probably be more discussion of this vacation in a future blog... we shall see...
C. I've gotten more (is that even possible?!?) involved with my church. I helped start a Sunday School class for the young adults (which, after 3 months of hard work, is totally thriving). I am also helping to lead lessons as well as plan service and social projects each month for our young adults group. Of course I'm still teaching elementary Sunday School, and in my free time I'm involved in the Women's Group committee, Upper Room Committee, and Intern Committee. I'm also getting involved with a newly-formed scrapbooking/card-making class that meets twice a month, as well as being on a "Dish Dog" group for a new "Big Wednesday Night" event that is about to start. There seriously just aren't enough hours in the day... I think I either need to come up with a way to clone myself, or just learn to form my mouth to say the word "NO" next time I am asked to join/be a part of/lead/help with something.
D. I joined a co-ed flag football team. Not too much to say on this subject right now. I'm not loving it as much as I had hoped/anticipated, but I'm gonna stick it out till the end of the season (after all, momma didn't raise no quitter!!). Hopefully things will change for the better.
E. I finally broke down and got a gym membership to 24 hour fitness about 3 weeks ago. I have always been a huge advocate of not paying for excercising, but I've gotten to a point where I really feel motivated to get back into shape, and I feel like I want/need more than just "taking my dogs walking at the park" once or twice a week. Plus, they were having a super-awesome "no contracts/no start up cost" (which I 100% would have never signed/paid for) deal going. So, I just pay month to month - which ends up being less than $1 a day, which is less than what I would have paid in gas just to get to and from the park anyway... (shut up, don't question my justification). I've been doing really awesome so far, and have already lost 14lbs. My goal weight loss is 60-75lbs. total, so I'm on a good start so far!!
F. And my newest fun news... a good friend of mine has just informed me that she is newly engaged, and she's asked me to be in her wedding. I'm so excited for her and her wonderful beau, and I'm really honored and excited to be a part of the ceremony. I realized as I was talking to her that this is the first wedding I will be a part of where I was not related to either the bride or groom.
G. Oh yes... andI've also gotten one year closer to death... erm...
older... whatever... the party was fun (any party that goes till 4 in the morning can't be too bad!!), I just wish the good times didn't require such an abrupt numerical advancement in age. I read somewhere that on all (Chinese? Hindu? Pig Latin?? oh I can't remember) death certificates, they enter under 'cause of death': "birth". I think that's an interesting way to look at it, because really, aren't we all just
in the process of dying anyway? OMG I'm totally digressing like crazy... back to topic...
I'm sure there are many many other things I could add to this post, but it's already gotten rediculously longer than I had planned, so I'll just save additional junk for future post (ok, everyone at once... "thanks Miss Megan"...). =)
P.S. - If you ever truly want to play catch-up with ketchup, please, do make sure the top is on tight... unfortunately, I learned this the hard way...
